Kreutzer's history in
wonderfulworlds
As with everyone else, the first day was the most confusing for Kreutzer. The characters ICly had the game and their roles explained to them, so knowing that she had no place back home if she won, Kreutzer decided to become a reaper. Convinced that this was punishment for similarly misleading her closest friend back home, she played her role without much note for the first few days. She set up a wall or two, harassed a few players and began getting acquainted with a few faces. Nothing too extraordinary. The first highlight was a chance meeting with Pinkie Pie, a strange pink pony with a rooted background as a gypsy. Impressed with her dedication, Kreutzer gave the pony a doll and a nice sum of money to help her along. Though she indirectly helped the Players complete the mission, Kreutzer remains entirely unaware of this fact.
Although the higher-ups were upset with the Reapers’ lack of action on the fourth day, Kreutzer didn’t face any noteworthy events until the seventh day. However, they took note of her lackadaisical behavior on the fifth day. This is important. The seventh day, however, was a very crucial day for Kreutz. On the seventh day, the girl who was so weighed down by the guilt of her actions in life began to lose her mind. So much, in fact, that she blew up a street intersection for the hell of it. She was spreading unneeded chaos and was ultimately beaten down by Ichigo. Once she came back to her senses, Kreutzer fled the scene and remained unseen for the rest of the day.
Based on Kreutzer’s actions in the first week, the higher-ups saw it necessary to partner her up with another reaper. This reaper, Grovyle, switched over from being a Player to a Reaper and needed coaching. The two began helping each other along that day which marked the beginning of one of Kreutzer’s strongest friendships in Wonderful Worlds.
The first four days of week 2 proceeded without much event in regards to Kreutzer’s own story. That changed significantly on day 5, when she met Fluttershy and Fluttercruel, two ponies who shared the same body. They bonded quickly and easily became friends. They even bought a pet dog that day…and Kreutzer loved that dog so very much. The rest of the week proceeded normally for her…however, there was one problem: she suspected that the dog wouldn’t travel with her when the game shifted at the end of the week, so she made preparations so her dog would have enough food to last three days, should they be separated.
Unfortunately, her suspicions were correct. Once the game shifted to the new location, Lutie, Kreutzer’s dog was nowhere to be found. Her mood appropriately plummeted. The first three days of this week were some of the slowest she ever endured, burdened by the belief that she sent that young puppy to its death. For three days, she tried to numb the pain down with the freezing weather, but to no avail. The third day, at least, tried to fix that. Though she remained stubborn about the idea, the extended conversations with Joshua and Tarble rekindled enough of her faith to at least be able to smile.
On the fourth and fifth days, suspicions rose when both days went without assigned missions. Players and Reapers alike weren’t too certain about what to do, including Fluttershy. Despite still dwelling over her issues with faith, Kreutzer set them aside long enough to return the favor to the Pegasus pony; where she wanted something to hold when she slept, Kreutzer gave her one of her dolls. Despite there being a lack of order during those two days, things were starting to shape up and for a moment, Kreutzer thought she would be alright.
No one could’ve predicted how wrong her assumption was. Day six of week three proved to be one of the most traumatic experiences in her career as a Reaper, with the RGers assuming her to be a special event raid boss (remember: week 3 is set in Ragnarok Online) and relentlessly trying to kill her. Being forced into a corner with no chance of escape, Kreutzer had no choice but to fight back against all of them. Even considering the fact that the RGers had revival magic ready, she killed hundreds that day. This was made worse by the fact that the setting’s RPG system unknowingly had an effect on her, particularly in regards to mana consumption. The battle lasted so long, Kreutzer emptied her mana reserves and found herself incapable of using any magic. Thankfully, the combined efforts of Fluttershy and Ryoji Mochizuki meant a successful rescue. Kreutzer was too beaten to walk on her own and had to be carried outside by the pony and taken back to her hotel room, where Grovyle and Ryoji saw to treating her injuries. The fight effectively took her out of commission for the rest of day six and all of day seven.
The higher-ups found out about it and they were pissed. So pissed, in fact, that the second in command called to meet some of the Players and Reapers, particularly those involved in the day six incident, including herself. Thankfully, she was spared from erasure. Her punishment, however, was to spend the next week as a Player. Her entry fee would be taken the next day, so she left to spend what might’ve been her final day as a reaper with Grovyle. Sitting beside each other on the hotel’s rooftop, they gazed up at the stars and the town below them. She was scared…scared of what’ll be taken from her. Scared of whether or not she’ll be able to survive without her magic as a Player. As he did on the first day of week three, Grovyle reminded her to have faith, this time in herself. If she wanted to succeed, to survive and see the sunrise again, she needed to have faith. After their heart to heart, Kreutzer longingly looked over the town and up at the sky, her nerves keeping her from willingly falling asleep. She and Grovyle stood up as late as they could to try and watch the sunrise…but as the game shifted locations, everything went black.
When she awoke, everything was still black. Her entry fee was her vision. Kreutzer was forced to face week 4 blindly…without her powers and without one of her five senses. In exchange, her resolve only grew stronger. Strong enough, in fact, to actually reach the mission destination, although she still needed a partner. After a little philosophical musing with Ichigo, she searched for a partner…and found Mewtwo, a new Reaper, instead. Prior to week 4, Players could fight the noise on their own if needed. This week, however, demanded that all Players partner up, otherwise they’ll be unable to fight against the Noise and they’ll be easy targets. Hope seemed lost for Kreutzer as the single Noise began whittling her down. Refusing to give up, she still made a stand against Mewtwo…
…And that’s when a hand placed itself on her shoulder. An unfamiliar hand from a girl Kreutzer couldn’t see. Her grip, however, assured Kreutzer that the other girl wasn’t hostile. This girl, Xion, was unable to speak, but somehow the two girls were able to reach a mutual understanding: they needed each others’ help to survive. They needed to become partners. Recalling Grovyle’s words to her the day before, Kreutzer was able to calm her mind enough to form a pact with Xion and erase the Noise that nearly finished her off. Mewtwo, questioning the worth of their pact, begrudgingly rewarded them for surviving the encounter and left the scene, leaving Kreutzer and Xion gather their bearings and return to Ichigo, where they cleared the first day’s mission.
The remainder of day one and all of day two she spent training, getting acquainted with her abilities as a Player (particularly her new Player Pin, which gave her the ability to feel the world around her, working as a substitute for vision), including combat with her pins. Though difficult, she and Xion had each other to count on for support.
When the time came for day three’s mission, Kreutzer had enough confidence to take part in the mission’s main attraction: spreading courage by singing on stage. Though seemingly minor, being able to take part in something she enjoyed after spending so much time with a down note further helped lift her spirits, even with the setting’s atmosphere growing more and more ominous.
Her reliance on sensing through her Player Pin meant she felt every ounce of negative emotion that spread across Port Island. Eventually, she and Xion came to the conclusion that made the most sense: this world was coming to an end. Unfortunately, what they weren’t certain of was what role they would play in this world’s destruction; all they had was the willpower to persevere and press on. Frankly, that’s all they needed.
Day five brought about even more activity as the girls further investigated their theory while fighting to clear the mission. A conversation with Zecora confirmed her suspicions, though the specifics still surprised her: Ryoji was to bring about this world’s end as Nyx. She could only assume it would all go down on the seventh day, but she needed to survive until then to confirm her theory. After some much needed reconciling with Grovyle and The Flutters, Kreutzer and Xion were ready to deal with the day’s mission: The Reaper, Asakura. His defeat meant a mission clear and for her efforts, Kreutzer gained a bow. Despite the lack of arrows, she quickly learned to channel the energy from some of her pins into ammunition, improving her confidence and combat capabilities.
The darkness over Port Island only grew on the sixth day, when the mission texts were completely garbled and illegible. All the Players knew was they had two days to complete the mission. Kreutzer proceeded without a set direction, but with the will to press on. The seventh day made things very clear: their goal took the form of a giant, ominous tower that suddenly appeared. After climbing the many floors ( which were suspiciously empty), Kreutzer finally reached the top…where Nyx and Xion already were. Taking advantage of Xion’s inability to speak, it warped the scenario to imply that Kreutzer’s partner turned against her. With the lack of communication, Kreutzer proved herself ready to fight against her friend if she truly had to. Thankfully, Xion was able to reach out to her before she attacked and got her message across to Kreutzer. Thankful that they didn’t have to fight on opposite sides, they joined the Reapers and other Players in a long, exhausting battle against Nyx. They fought until the timer nearly ran out, when Ryoji, with the help of a Player-turned-RGer, regained enough control to allow the others to escape and ultimately, survive.
When Kreutzer awoke in New York City, she was immediately greeted by the bright sunrise, as if it were waiting for her. After what felt like eternity of wandering through the darkness, she reached the light…and for her efforts, she regained her position as a Reaper. Given how unstable the Reaper’s Game has been since its creation, Kreutzer swore to see to it that the game would end for good. The first four days of this week didn’t bring about much, if any, new information, so she simply stuck to her Reaper duties. Day five, however, she learned of a new horrific element to the game: Taboo Noise, a powerful type of Noise that not only attacked even Reapers, but could erase them as well. Worried about her partner, Kreutzer decided that she would stick by him for all of day six. With even Ichigo getting erased by the Taboo Noise, there was no telling who was safe and who wasn’t.
Tragedy loved following Kreutz, to her dismay. She found Grovyle just in time to watch him be overwhelmed by Taboo Noise. Despite repelling them, she didn’t make it in time to save him. As he slowly died in her arms, the Pokemon admitted to how proud of Kreutzer he was, of how much stronger she became since they first met. As his body faded away to nothingness, Kreutzer couldn’t fight back her tears any longer. Crying on her knees, Kreutzer remained in the middle of the street until The Flutters found her in her misery. The comforting was cut short, however, as the Taboo Noise returned in greater numbers, drawn to all of Kreutzer’s negative emotions. Their presence quickly morphed her deep depression into pure rage as she formed a new pact with the Flutters before crushing them all into dust.
Not long after this fight does a message get broadcasted to all Players and Reapers by Mewtwo. The Pokemon fingered Xion as the source of the Taboo Noise, but knowing better than to instantly trust it that easily, she confirmed Xion’s safety and set out to find her own answers…answers that took the form of the fifth week’s GM (Game Master). All Kreutzer got from it was a name for the creatures; not much, but it’s more than what she started with.
Unfortunately, even that did nothing to solve the new confusion that came from the newest location: Shibuya. However, the once bustling city was in ruins, as if it were abandoned long ago. The only text anyone received bluntly stated "The Reaper’s Game is cancelled. Do whatever the hell you want." With very low numbers already, the few who made it this far had to survive on their own for this week, either looking for answers or whatever else that drove them onward.
During the course of the week, Kreutzer had yet another run-in with Mewtwo, but with no game to restrain him, he attacked her almost immediately. Reluctant to fight back, Kreutzer pleaded to help him through his obvious hatred towards humans and realized her full potential lied in what brought her to the game in the first place: her being the obstacle one needs to face in order to become stronger. Though her first attempt at this (with Rosa) was unintentional and incredibly sloppy, Kreutzer’s experience as a reaper helped define this aspect of herself and reached its peak as she stood before Mewtwo, insisting that he focus all of his hatred on her so he could give mankind another chance. Though her efforts failed, Kreutzer managed to escape the encounter with her life.
Hope was not lost, however. Throughthe game dying and being resurrected into an endgame meme months later strenuous labors, Kreutzer and the others still in the game were able to bring an end to the previous composer's reign. With Zecora taking over as the new composer, she resurrected all of the fallen allies and allowed everyone to return home, if they so chose. After hear weary journey of learning what it means to be a Reaper, Kreutzer decided to stay and help Zecora shape the game into something much more functional. This lead to a heartbreaking farewell with The Flutters, who decided to return home to her friends. Despite such, they knew their friendship would last across universes. Kreutzer repeated that to herself as she prayed for her partner's safe journey.
What she didn't expect was the reunion with Grovyle, who was uncertain about his resurrection. Though Kreutzer blamed herself for not arriving on time to save him, the tearful reunion allowed her some much-needed closure as they looked back on their time in The Game.
After all was said and done, Kreutzer found herself before the new composer, Zecora.. They mused about the future of the game and their places in it...and one more loose end that haunted the zebra: her death. The details surrounding it were never revealed and she intended to unearth them when she brought the game to Equestria. Kreutzer's final events in the game were agreeing to help Zecora with her biggest loose end.
